President's Report 2014

Posted by Rachel Aluesi on 18 November 2014

Welcome to the 2014 Annual General Meeting. It seems like no time at all since we were holding our last AGM in Dunedin, while also hosting our Professional Development Conference. It was during this time that we sadly had to announce that Donna-Rose McKay had passed away. Donna-Rose was a founder and driving force behind the establishment of ACHIEVE and as Paul Gibson, Disability Rights Commissioner at the Human Rights Commission, stated “as a result of Donna-Rose’s work there are teams supporting disabled students in all tertiary institutions in New Zealand." I would like to extend thanks to our membership for their support during a difficult time, particularly when also hosting a conference.
